Blair County, Pennsylvania is rural community and home to over 125,000 residents, as well as hundreds of businesses. With homeowners comprising over 70% of the population, Blair County is a thriving region for real estate agents, insurance agents, and contractors, including heating, air conditioning, plumbers, and general contractors (construction, remodeling, roofing, siding, decks, windows and more). 

Altoona, the largest community and only city in Blair County, was founded as a major railroad town. The city's professional baseball team, the Altoona Curve (AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates), was named after this site. The Railroaders Memorial Museum celebrates Altoona's railroad heritage with exhibits for all ages, and also hosts events such as concerts and weddings. 

Other historical sites in Altoona include Fort Roberdeau, an American Revolutionary War fort built in the 1700s for lead mining, and Baker Mansion, a historic home built in the 1840s. Both offer tours and numerous other community events. Fort Roberdeau is also home to the Mountain Lion Observatory, a slide roof observatory with telescopes for night sky observation available to the local community and schools. The historic Mishler Theater was built in 1906, and hosts numerous productions each year, including plays, musicals, recitals, children's theater, and more. 

Hollidaysburg is the county seat, and home of the Slinky, which was invented in the early 1940s and is manufactured in Hollidaysburg. Hollidaysburg's downtown district is an oasis for shoppers and diners with dozens of local businesses, including restaurants, gift and specialty shops, beauty salons and more. 

Chimney Rocks is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts with hiking trails and breathtaking views. Another exciting spot for those craving the outdoors is Canoe Creek State Park, which features a beach, boating and canoeing, trails, frisbee golf, cabins and camping. 

The northern portion of Blair County includes the communities of Tyrone, Bellwood and Tipton. Tourists from miles away visit this area in the summer to enjoy the rides, waterslides, lazy river and wave pool at Delgrosso's Amusement Park and Laguna Splash waterpark. 

Large employers in Blair County include health care: UPMC Altoona, Nason Hospital and Tyrone hospital all provide the region with experienced doctors, physicians and surgeons; and education: Blair County is the home to 7 school districts, as well as Penn State University's largest branch campus, which brings students, their families, and other visitors to the region. 

Blair County is also host to several major industrial and manufacturing businesses, including PPG (Pittsburgh Plate Glass) in Tipton and Roaring Spring Water and Appvion paper mill in Roaring Spring. Another large employer in the region is Sheetz – a chain of over 500 convenience stores that is family founded and owned right in Blair County. 

Roaring Spring Water is bottled direct from its source, the Spring Dam, located right in Roaring Spring. Just a short drive from Roaring Spring are the communities of Williamsburg, Martinsburg and Claysburg. This southern region of Blair County is the agricultural and farming heart of the area.
